Helen has over 15 years experience working with children and adults with ASD, ADHD and SPD in various roles, and has always been destined to find OT as a career. Helen enjoys working with preschoolers all the way through to teens, and her passion lies with sensory integration therapy. Helen is confident working with children who find engagement difficult, expert maskers and those with PDA (diagnosed or otherwise). She enjoys getting to know a young person and using their interests and play to develop a connection as a base for working on sensory processing, emotional development and functional skills. Helen will always spend time within an assessment to explore and demonstrate practical ways to support a child's needs so that children come away with more than a report (and usually a shopping list of new toys/equipment).
Helen has two young children of her own who get to try out all of the new equipment, toys and play ideas first. She also enjoys walking her bouncy Labrador and is otherwise occupied with home renovations.
Helen holds a BSc in Psychology, MSc (pre-reg) in Occupational Therapy and is a Sensory Integration Practitioner. Helen is also registered with the Health Care Professional Council (HCPC).
